Crystal Palace Set to Sign Ismaila Sarr from Marseille

Crystal Palace are on the verge of acquiring Senegalese winger Ismaila Sarr from Marseille for approximately £12.5 million. The 26-year-old is anticipated to commit to a five-year deal with the Eagles.

Sarr's move to Marseille from Watford occurred in July of the previous year for an undisclosed sum. During his tenure at Watford, he netted 34 goals in 131 appearances. His most recent season at Marseille saw him contribute five goals and six assists across all competitions.

The winger boasts an impressive international record, having scored 13 goals in 64 appearances for Senegal. His accolades include winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and participating in two World Cups.

Marseille, now under the guidance of former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, recently signed Manchester United's Mason Greenwood. The French club appears to be balancing their books with Sarr's departure.

For Crystal Palace, Sarr's arrival comes as they seek to fill the void left by Michael Olise, who recently transferred to Bayern Munich for £50 million. The London club has been active in the transfer market, having already secured Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer from Lazio and Moroccan defender Chadi Riad from Real Betis for £14 million.

This transfer window demonstrates Palace's intent to reinforce their squad following Olise's departure, with Sarr potentially playing a key role in their upcoming campaign.
