Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Noussair Mazraoui, Martin Zubimendi, and Others

Manchester United aims to strengthen their defense and midfield with potential signings of Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Their summer transfer activity began with the acquisitions of Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and French center-back Leny Yoro from Lille. Despite these additions, manager Erik ten Hag is looking to further balance the squad by bringing in more experienced players.

Mazraoui, a Moroccan defender, is being considered as a replacement for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who might move to Inter Milan. According to talkSPORT, United and Bayern Munich have agreed on a transfer fee between £15m and £20m for the 26-year-old, marking his potential debut in the Premier League after 38 appearances in the Bundesliga since 2022.

Meanwhile, United's interest has shifted partially away from PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte to Zubimendi, with a reported fee of around £50m, according to El Nacional. Though Ugarte remains a target, United has yet to meet Sociedad’s £60m valuation for the Uruguay international. Ten Hag, who has already spent up to £59m on Yoro, is willing to make a similar investment in Zubimendi. The 25-year-old Zubimendi has 144 appearances for Sociedad and featured for Spain in the Euro 2024 final against England.

United is also linked with Joao Neves, a promising Portuguese midfielder from Benfica, though his high release clause of over £100m might make a move to the Premier League unrealistic. Additionally, Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco is seen as a more affordable replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer. Fofana has attracted interest from AC Milan and West Ham, who have reportedly submitted bids for the French midfielder.
