WIMBLEDON SECURE LOAN DEAL FOR HULL DEFENDER FURLONG

The 22-year-old Irish defender has made one appearance for the Tigers' first team, starting in the FA Cup third-round replay against Birmingham City in January of last season. Unfortunately, a knee injury sustained during that match has kept him out of competitive action ever since.

Despite this setback, the majority of Furlong's first-team experience has been accrued through a loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Motherwell. He played an instrumental role for Motherwell during the latter half of the 2022-23 season, showcasing his skills and gaining valuable experience in top-flight football.

Furlong’s football journey began in his native Ireland, where he developed his skills and honed his craft. His promising performances caught the attention of scouts, leading to his move to Brighton’s academy. At Brighton, he initially played with the under-21 team, making a few notable appearances that highlighted his potential.

His senior debut came in August 2022 during an EFL Cup match against Forest Green Rovers. This match marked a significant milestone in his career, representing a step forward in his professional development. Despite the promising start, his progress has been hampered by the injury, but he remains hopeful of making a return to full fitness and continuing his footballing journey.
