Chelsea acquire Neto from Wolves for £54 million

CHELSEA HAVE COMPLETED A £54M MOVE FOR WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS FORWARD PEDRO NETO

The 24-year-old Portuguese forward has officially joined Chelsea, signing a seven-year contract that will keep him with the club until 2031. This announcement came following his presentation to the supporters at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The occasion took place during the halftime of a friendly match against the Italian team Inter Milan.

Expressing his excitement and gratitude, Neto said, "I’m incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to be part of this esteemed club. My journey to this point has involved a lot of hard work, and I’m eagerly anticipating the chance to step onto the pitch and represent Chelsea in this new chapter of my career."

The transfer was concluded after Chelsea negotiated with Wolves over the course of the week. Initially, the Blues had two bids rejected before reaching an agreement on Friday. The deal sees Chelsea paying an upfront fee of £51.3 million for Neto, with an additional £2.6 million contingent on performance-related add-ons.

Neto, who came to Wolves from Lazio in 2019, netted 14 goals in 135 matches for the club in the West Midlands.

This transfer marks a record sale for Wolves, surpassing the £47m they received from Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in 2023 for Ruben Neves.

With Neto's transfer, Chelsea's summer spending has reached approximately £185m.

So far, the club has signed midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Omari Kellyman; goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen; defenders Tosin Adarabioyo, Aaron Anselmino, and Caleb Wiley; winger Estevao Willian; and striker Marc Guiu.

The club is also looking to secure Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion and Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders in the near future.
