Man Utd Transfer Updates: PSG 'Sets Conditions' for Manuel Ugarte Deal

Manchester United Transfer Updates and Speculations Today: PSG Sets Terms for Manuel Ugarte's Potential Move to the Red Devils

Manchester United is still negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a possible transfer for Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan player, who previously played for Sporting CP in Portugal, is often compared to N'Golo Kante due to his strong ball-winning skills. His addition could bolster Erik ten Hag's midfield

Manuel Ugarte led Ligue 1 last season with a remarkable 98 tackles, despite only starting 21 out of 34 matches. He achieved this feat with Paris Saint-Germain, who controlled possession for approximately 66 percent of the game time.

The statistics highlight his exceptional ability to win the ball, which was even more pronounced during his last season at Sporting CP. In that campaign, the Uruguayan player achieved 121 tackles in 31 matches, the highest tally by any player in Portugal's Primeira Liga.

Over the past two seasons, Joao Palhinha is the only player in Europe's top leagues who has averaged more tackles per 90 minutes than Ugarte. Palhinha was the player Ugarte replaced in Sporting's midfield before securing his £51 million transfer to PSG last summer.

A year later, Ugarte is once again a sought-after talent. Manchester United's midfield struggled last season, with Erik ten Hag's team being too easily bypassed. At 23, Ugarte offers qualities that could address the gaps left by the aging Casemiro.
