McClean received a surprising two-year contract extension at Wrexham

JAMES MCCLEAN HANDED SURPRISE NEW TWO-YEAR CONTRACT AT WREXHAM AS HE TARGETS 'MORE SUCCESS' WITH RYAN REYNOLDS & ROB MCELHENNEY'S SIDE

James McClean has made a surprising move by signing a new two-year contract with Wrexham, signaling his commitment to achieving "more success" with the Welsh club. The announcement of this contract extension came as a notable development for Wrexham, which is owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The 35-year-old midfielder originally joined Wrexham last year, and his contract was automatically extended for an additional year following the club’s promotion to League One. With this new deal, McClean will remain with the Red Dragons until at least 2026.

During his first season with Wrexham, McClean played a crucial role in their successful campaign in League Two. He contributed significantly with four goals and 13 assists, proving to be an essential part of the team’s offensive lineup. His impact was further underscored by his high level of discipline on the pitch, as he accumulated 15 yellow cards across all competitions. Despite this disciplinary record, Wrexham has shown their confidence in McClean’s abilities and has decided to retain him for the foreseeable future.

In a statement on Wrexham’s official website, McClean expressed his enthusiasm about extending his stay with the club. He conveyed his delight at being able to continue his tenure for another two seasons and looked forward to building on the success achieved so far. McClean’s excitement about the future was evident as he anticipated more achievements with the team.

Manager Phil Parkinson also voiced his satisfaction with the new contract, highlighting McClean’s excellent performance throughout the previous season. Parkinson is eager to continue working with McClean and is confident that his presence will be beneficial for Wrexham’s ongoing journey in League One.

As Wrexham prepares to embark on the new season, they are set to face Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. McClean, having proven his worth in the past season, is expected to be a key player in this opening match and is likely to be in contention for a starting position. The team’s supporters and staff are hopeful that McClean’s continued contributions will help propel Wrexham to new heights in the upcoming campaign.
