McTominay's future with Manchester United remains uncertain following rejections from Fulham

MANCHESTER UNITED MIDFIELDER SCOTT MCTOMINAY'S FUTURE REMAINS UNCERTAIN AS FULHAM IS NOT 'CLOSE' TO REACHING AN AGREEMENT ON HIS TRANSFER AFTER HAVING THREE BIDS REJECTED

Scott McTominay's future at Manchester United remains uncertain as the club holds firm on their asking price for the midfielder, who is a target for Fulham. The ongoing negotiations between United and Fulham have turned into a frustrating transfer saga for all parties involved. Despite their need to make sales, United has rejected three offers from Fulham for McTominay and are steadfast in their demand for a package worth £30 million ($38 million), according to the Independent.

The situation is further complicated by the recent arrivals of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro at Manchester United. These additions have increased the urgency for United to sell players in order to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules and to fund other potential transfers. United aims to make five more sales but has encountered significant difficulties in offloading players, including Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, and Victor Lindelof.

A deal for McTominay appears unlikely at present, as Fulham has not come close to meeting United's valuation. The slow market has made it challenging for United to sell their players. This summer has seen less activity from the Saudi Pro League, which has traditionally been a lucrative destination for players, and other Premier League clubs are also constrained by their own Profit and Sustainability Rules. Additionally, many of United's first-team players are on high wages, which interested parties are unwilling to match, a problem resulting from previous recruitment policies.

With the transfer window open until August 30, there is still time for United and Fulham to reach an agreement. If the deal is finalized, McTominay would join Ryan Sessegnon, Emile Smith Rowe, and Jorge Cuenca as part of the summer signings at Craven Cottage. However, until an agreement is reached, McTominay's future at Old Trafford remains in limbo, reflecting the broader struggles Manchester United faces in their efforts to balance their squad and finances.
