Barcelona faces setback in their pursuit of Olmo

BARCELONA FACES SETBACK IN DANI OLMO PURSUIT AS RB LEIPZIG REMAINS RESOLUTE ON DEMANDS FOR EURO 2024 STAR

Barcelona's efforts to acquire Dani Olmo have hit a major roadblock as RB Leipzig stands firm on their asking price for the Euro 2024 standout. Olmo, who showcased his talent with an outstanding performance for Spain at the tournament, has been a target for Barcelona this summer. Despite the Catalan giants' interest, they have yet to finalize a transfer deal for the attacking midfielder.

Barcelona initially submitted a bid of €40 million, with an additional €20 million in performance-based add-ons. However, this offer was swiftly rejected by Leipzig. In response, Barcelona improved their bid to €47 million with €3 million contingent on appearances, plus a further €10 million in potential bonuses related to future titles. Despite these efforts, Leipzig has remained resolute, insisting that they will only part with their star player if their valuation of €60 million is met.

The situation is complicated further by Olmo’s apparent preference for a move to Barcelona. While the player himself is keen on joining the Camp Nou side, Barcelona is not expected to increase their offer significantly despite Leipzig's firm stance. This means that, unless a compromise can be reached, Olmo’s transfer may not materialize this summer.

As this transfer saga unfolds, Leipzig’s pre-season preparations continue. Hansi Flick’s team is returning to Spain after a tour of the United States and is scheduled to play one final friendly match against AS Monaco before the start of the 2024/25 season. The outcome of this transfer negotiation could influence both teams' strategies as they head into the new season.
