Dotmund's Schlotterbeck is being linked with a move to Real Madrid

NICO SCHLOTTERBECK HEADING TO REAL MADRID? THE BORUSSIA DORTMUND PLAYER RESPONDS TO RUMORS ABOUT A MOVE TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNERS, ADMITTING HE MIGHT BE 'TEMPLATED' TO PLAY ABROAD

Nico Schlotterbeck, the standout defender for Borussia Dortmund, has addressed the recent transfer speculation linking him to Real Madrid and confirmed his intention to stay with the German club. Schlotterbeck enjoyed an exceptional season under the management of Edin Terzic, playing a crucial role as Dortmund advanced to the Champions League final. His impressive performances caught the attention of Real Madrid, who are actively seeking to enhance their defensive lineup.

In response to the speculation, Schlotterbeck spoke to Sky Germany, expressing his strong commitment to Borussia Dortmund. He stated, "While the idea of moving abroad might be tempting at some point, I've been with BVB for two years and have developed a deep connection with the club. I am very eager to play here for a third season and, if possible, for a fourth and fifth. I am truly happy at BVB and consider it a great honor to be part of this team."

Schlotterbeck acknowledged the rumors linking him to Real Madrid but made it clear that his current focus is solely on Borussia Dortmund. He emphasized, "At this moment, only Borussia Dortmund matters to me, and I foresee that being the case for the next few years." This statement strongly suggests that Schlotterbeck is committed to the club's future and is not considering a move in the near term.

Furthermore, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly keen on securing Schlotterbeck's long-term future, having offered him a contract extension that would place him among the top earners at the club. Schlotterbeck commented on the potential extension, saying, "Everything is possible here. I am very content at BVB. We will need to see how things develop in the coming weeks." This indicates that while he is open to discussions about an extended stay, he remains focused on his current role and contributions to the team.

Due to his recent participation in Euro 2024 with the German national team, Schlotterbeck has been granted an extended break from club duties. He is expected to resume training next week, with the aim of being fully prepared for Nuri Sahin's first official match as Borussia Dortmund's head coach. Schlotterbeck's return to training will be eagerly anticipated as the club looks to build on their recent successes and continue their competitive form in the upcoming season.
