LIVERPOOL HAS THEIR EYES ON A TRANSFER TARGET THAT MANCHESTER UNITED IS ALSO PURSUING, SPARKING COMPETITION BETWEEN THE TWO CLUBS

Manchester United's pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite has taken an unexpected turn, as Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for the Everton defender. United, who have been targeting Branthwaite as a potential addition to their backline, face stiff competition from their Premier League rivals. Liverpool, in particular, are said to be preparing a substantial offer of £70 million to lure the 22-year-old to Anfield, which includes £63 million upfront and an additional £7 million in potential add-ons.

This development comes after Manchester United had already seen two bids rejected by Everton, with their highest offer reportedly reaching £50 million. Branthwaite, who had a breakout season under Sean Dyche at Everton, is now a hot commodity in the transfer market, with both Manchester clubs and Liverpool vying for his signature.

Liverpool's interest in Branthwaite is fueled by their need to strengthen their defensive options, especially following the departure of Sepp van den Berg to Brentford. With a lack of depth in central defense, Liverpool are keen to secure Branthwaite before the transfer window closes. However, it remains to be seen whether Everton will part ways with the young defender, especially considering their precarious position in the Premier League and the potential backlash from selling to a direct rival.

The race for Branthwaite highlights the intense competition among top Premier League clubs as they look to bolster their squads for the upcoming season.
