Liverpool have turned down a £15 million offer from Southampton for Carvalho

LIVERPOOL HAVE REJECTED A £15 MILLION BID FROM SOUTHAMPTON FOR FABIO CARVALHO AND ARE DEMANDING A MUCH HIGHER FEE FROM THE NEWLY-PROMOTED SAINTS

Liverpool have turned down a £15 million bid from Southampton for their midfielder Fabio Carvalho. The Premier League club is holding out for a considerably higher fee for the 21-year-old, as they have rejected this initial offer. According to The Athletic, Liverpool is not considering another loan move for Carvalho and would only entertain a permanent transfer if Southampton significantly increases their bid.

Carvalho has shown his potential during two successful loan spells in the 2023-24 season, catching Southampton's attention during his temporary stint at Hull in the Championship. With a contract that runs until 2027, Liverpool is in a strong position to control Carvalho's future.

Last season, Carvalho was recalled early from his loan at RB Leipzig due to a lack of playing time and was promptly loaned out again to the Championship. His departure left Leipzig dissatisfied, as the young Portuguese international was not given sufficient opportunities to play.

As Southampton prepares for the new Premier League season, it is unclear whether they will return with an improved offer for Carvalho. The club is keen to strengthen their squad after their promotion, and Carvalho's continued impressive performances in pre-season under manager Arne Slot suggest he is ready for a significant role.
