Liverpool is set to make an offer to acquire £75 million defender Guehi

LIVERPOOL IS SET TO MAKE A £75M OFFER FOR CRYSTAL PALACE DEFENDER MARC GUEHI AND REMAINS DETERMINED TO SECURE NEWCASTLE'S ANTHONY GORDON

Liverpool have entered the fray to secure the services of England international defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer. According to The Sun, Liverpool is keen on strengthening their defensive line and has now thrown their hat into the ring for Guehi, who is expected to command a transfer fee of approximately £75 million (€89 million). However, Liverpool will face stiff competition from Newcastle United, who are also in pursuit of the English center-back.

In addition to their interest in Guehi, Liverpool is also eyeing Newcastle's rising star Anthony Gordon. Reports suggest that Liverpool is prepared to include Joe Gomez as part of a potential deal to acquire Gordon. Meanwhile, Newcastle is proactively planning for Gordon's possible departure by targeting Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace as a potential replacement. Eze has a release clause of £60 million (€71 million) in his current contract, making him a feasible option for the Magpies.

Following their significant investment in midfield players last summer, including Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch—amounting to close to £100 million—Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has yet to announce any new signings in the ongoing transfer window. The club has, however, parted ways with several key players, such as Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara.

Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States was notably successful, highlighted by a convincing victory over Manchester United. As they approach the final stages of their pre-season preparations, Slot’s side is set to play their concluding friendly match at Anfield on August 11, where they will face Sevilla. This match will be an important final test before the competitive season kicks off.
