Overlooked Man City player transfers to Dortmund

FORGOTTEN MAN CITY PLAYER MOVES TO BORUSSIA DORTMUND FOR €30M WITHOUT EVER MAKING AN APPEARANCE FOR PEP GUARDIOLA'S SIDE

Manchester City have transferred defender Yan Couto to Borussia Dortmund. Initially, the Brazilian full-back will join on loan with an obligation to purchase. Couto, who joined Manchester City from Coritiba in 2020 on a five-year contract, never made an appearance for the club. Over the past four seasons, he has been on loan, spending three years with City Group-owned La Liga team Girona. Now, he has moved to Germany. Dortmund announced that Manchester City has agreed to let Couto go on an initial loan with a mandatory purchase clause for €30 million (£25.3m/$32.6m) next summer. Couto played a crucial role in Girona's historic 2023-24 season, helping them finish third in La Liga. He featured in 34 league matches last season, scoring once and providing 10 assists. Additionally, Manchester City might lose two key players, Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne, this summer due to interest from Saudi Pro League teams. Pep Guardiola's team will conclude their pre-season tour in the United States with a match against Chelsea on Saturday, followed by the Community Shield clash against Manchester United on August 10.
