Odegaard's ankle injury turns out to be more serious than initially believed

MARTIN ODEGAARD'S ANKLE INJURY TURNED OUT TO BE MORE SEVERE THAN ORIGINALLY EXPECTED, LEADING ARSENAL TO ESTABLISH A TARGET RETURN DATE FOR THEIR CAPTAIN

Arsenal's 25-year-old midfielder, Martin Ødegaard, has suffered a significant setback due to ligament damage incurred during a Nations League match against Austria during the recent international break. Upon his return to North London for further medical evaluation, Arsenal's medical staff initially held out hope for a swift recovery. However, reports from HITC indicate that further scans have shown the injury to be more severe than anticipated, necessitating an extended rehabilitation period for the Norwegian playmaker.

While there is currently no definitive timeline for Ødegaard’s return, the club is preparing for the possibility that he may not regain full fitness until around the Christmas period. Arsenal has stressed that the priority will be to ensure that Ødegaard is completely recovered before he makes his return, rather than rushing him back prematurely.

This injury comes as a considerable blow to Arsenal, especially given Ødegaard’s pivotal role in the team under manager Mikel Arteta. Last season, he was instrumental in their performance, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League, and his unique ability to break down defenses with his precise passing, creativity, and vision sets him apart as a key player in Arsenal’s attacking strategy.

Ødegaard’s absence is particularly challenging for the Gunners as they head into a crucial period of fixtures. They are set to launch their Champions League campaign on Thursday against Atalanta, the reigning Europa League champions, followed by a crucial Premier League showdown against Manchester City on Sunday.

As Arsenal navigates these upcoming matches, they will need to adapt to Ødegaard’s absence, a task that could significantly impact their performance on the pitch.
